The Willie J. Bradley, Jr. Foundation was established to honor the remarkable life and enduring legacy of Mr. Willie Junius Bradley, Jr. (1923-2011), a man whose dedication to education, military service, and community uplift exemplified the transformative power of opportunity and hard work.
Born on July 25, 1923, in the small community of Bremo Bluff, Fluvanna County, Virginia, Willie Bradley was the second of thirteen sons in a Christian household that valued education and service above all else. From these humble beginnings, he would go on to become a decorated veteran, devoted educator, and tireless community leader whose impact touched countless lives. His fellow students at Virginia State College affectionately nicknamed him "Bremo" after his hometown— a name that stayed with him for life and became synonymous with excellence and service.
Just as Willie Bradley overcame humble beginnings through education, military
service, and community involvement to become a respected leader and role model,
we are committed to providing scholarship opportunities that enable today's
students in the Fort Gregg-Adams area to pursue their educational dreams.
We partner with the Nu Omicron Lambda Chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc.—
Willie's beloved brotherhood—to award scholarships to deserving students from
Prince George County, Hopewell, and Colonial Heights who demonstrate academic
achievement, financial need, and a commitment to giving back to their communities.
